In May 2016, an agreement of € 43 million was signed for the Senergy project in Senegal, West Africa's largest solar power plant (as per June 2017). Located in Mékhé in the region of Thies, the solar plant started producing electricity in June 2017. It is funded by the FONSIS the sovereign Strategic Investment Fund of Senegal, Méridiam, an investment fund, and Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency dedicated to the private sector.

SENERGY PV SA, one young society from Senegal with a capital of 10 Millions FCFA, is builiding the power PV plant.

Avec une capacité nominale de 30 MWc, la centrale solaire Senergy est la plus grande d’Afrique de l’Ouest (Juin 2017). Son coût global avoisine 28 Milliards de FCFA et permettre fournir en électricité l’équivalent de la consommation annuelle de 226 500 habitants à un coût plus compétitif que celui des centrales thermiques du pays. Un contrat d’achat d’électricité sur 25 ans a été signé entre Senergy et la SENELEC.
