ESSAKANE solar power plant

It was done on a commercial basis between EREN RE, AEMP (developer) and the Canadian mining company IAMGOLD ESSAKANE SA. Both the producer and the consumer are private and independent.

This solar power plant, alongside the already existing oil fired power station, is the largest solar / diesel isolated hybrid power plant in the world. It is also the first major project of this type mounted without any public subsidy.

It started electricity production in 2018
