Eiffage Energía wind project in Senegal

Eiffage Energía, in collaboration with Vestas, started building in January 2019 the first wind farm in Senegal. The project, that will have an installed capacity of 158.7MW, will be the second experience in ECOWAS region and the first in the ECOWAS member state. Senegal increased its installed capacity to more than 1,000MW in 2018, and this project will keep expanding it once commissioned in 2020.

The wind farm will be located 70Km distance from Dakar, in the region of Tivaouane. The project will be executed in one only phase that will install 46 wind turbines of the type V126 of 3.45MW capacity each.

The expected time for the construction is 18 months. Once commissioned, it is expected that will provide electricity to about 150,000 households, thus contributing to increase the national electrification rate in the country, which was about 70% in 2018.
