ADFD and IRENA Announce Funding by ADFD of USD 44.5 million in Four Developing Countries including NigerFour renewable energy projects in developing countries (Marshall Islands, Niger, Seychelles and Solomon Islands) have been identified by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) to receive USD 44.5 million in funding. ADFD’s funding will support a diverse set of projects including a hybrid micro-grid project employing solar PV and advanced lithium-ion batteries, a hydropower project, integrated wind and solar, and a combination project consisting of micro-grid and solar home kits. The announcement of this fourth round of funding by the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility was made on January 14th at the Seventh Session of the IRENA Assembly. Read More |
INAUGURATION OF A PV-DIESEL HYBRID POWER PLANT IN BILGO, BURKINA FASOLe 31 mars 2016 a été inauguré la centrale hybride photovoltaïque/ diésel de Bilgo, village situé dans la commune rurale de PABRE. Cette centrale va contribuer à l’accélération de la couverture électrique nationale en améliorant significativement le taux d’accès des populations à l’électricité. La centrale électrique, fonctionne avec les systèmes hybrides photovoltaïque/groupes électrogènes de 30 kWc/77kVA. L’installation de cette centrale a été possible grâce l’apport financier de l’Union Européenne dans le cadre du projet « Flexy Energy » à hauteur 2 377 654 Euros soit environ 70% du budget global et avec une participation de la SONABEL, sous l’initiative et la coordination de 2IE. The Community Energy Service of Bambadinca starts the testing phaseThe project aims at providing the village of Bambadinca (region of Bafata, Guinea-Bissau) with a modern, reliable and accessible electricity service from renewable energy sources. In Bambadinca, NGO TESE sem fronteiras, is implementing this innovative project; "Bambadinca Sta Claro", where 6500 persons will receive energy from a large solar PV system, covering 15,000 m2, that will be producing 270 kW electric power. The electricity benefits both women and children, households, schools and local businesses. The report provides a regional perspective on the renewable energy and energy efficiency market and industry development in West Africa. It enables policymakers, industry, investors and civil society to make informed decisions with regards to the diffusion of renewable energy. The 92-page report covers recent developments, current status, and key trends; by design, it does not provide analysis or forecast. The production of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Status Report was supported by ECOWAS, UNIDO under the GEF Strategic Program for West Africa, The Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) and the Austrian Development Agency.
