In the pursue of our goal to provide reliable and updated information about the energy sector in ECOWAS countries, ECREEE has taken a laudable step towards harmonizing the various electricity tariffs systems in place throughout the region. ECREEE adopted the model used by the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA, in French the Association des Sociétés d’Electricité d’Afrique – ASEA, formerly UPDEA).
Nine (9) categories are considered using the APUA/ASEA methodology, taking into consideration the maximum electricity consumption and the power contract , as indicated in the table below:
