Abstract: |
The Africa land cover map is a regional component of the GLC2000 exercise, conceived and coordinated by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. The GLC2000 maps are based on daily observations made from 1st November 1999 to 31st December 2000 by the VEGETATION sensor on the SPOT 4 satellite. The map shows specific land-cover features as the irrigated agriculture, the ribbons of secondary forest of the swamp forests at a spatial detail never achieved before |

Soil’s uses are important in management and planning of small and large energy projects such as wind farms or PV plants |

Abstract: |
The ECOWAS Renewable Energy Investment Initiative (EREI) is part of the effort to fulfill ECREEE’s mandate to attract investments in RE as outlined in the White Paper on improving access to energy services in the ECOWAS region through the promotion of Investment Projects |
Purpose: |
The EREI aims at mitigating financial barriers to investments in medium and large-scale renewable energy projects and businesses. It provides support to develop a technical and economic feasible pipeline of projects and attracts the interest of possible investors and financiers |

Abstract: |
With these projects ECREEE take actions to implement action line 2 of the ECOWAS/UEMOA which called for the establishment of an innovation fund for rural and peri-urban areas. For such projects ECREEE will try to mobilize additional carbon funds (e.g. CDM) and co-funding (grants and loans) from bilateral and multilateral donors |
Purpose: |
Raising funding for at least 200 small and medium-sized RE&EE demonstration projects and support for local manufacturing and service companies |
