DTIE works with many partners: other UN agencies and programmes, international organizations, governments, non-governmental organizations, business, industry, media and the public. DTIE plays a leading role in three of UNEP’s six strategic priorities: climate change, harmful substances and hazardous waste, and resource efficiency.The division is a leading contributor to the Green Economy Initiative, launched by UNEP in 2008.
DTIE's mission is to address environmental issues at global and regional levels, provides leadership and encourages partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling nations and people to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
The Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) provides solutions to decision-makers and helps change the business environment by offering platforms for dialogue and cooperation, innovative policy options, pilot projects and creative market mechanisms.
