Description

Purpose:

The project will establish a locally made biogas plant in Lekki Local Council Development Area, a rural local government in the far south eastern end of Lagos state. The plant will convert water hyacinth and other local organic waste to produce fertiliser and at least 10kva electrical energy; the aim is to establish a locally based waste management strategy in the area to reduce waste, generate energy and improve livelihoods. The project also has a green infrastructure component which will protect and green a recreational area in the local government. Green spaces play a significant role in mitigation of climate change, and as the effects of it become more prominent there will be an unprecedented demand for recreational green spaces which will deliver a wide range of socio-economic and environmental well being benefits for the local community.
