Description

Purpose:

The Nigerian Alliance for Clean Cookstoves is a public private partnership that seeks to deliver 10 million clean cookstoves to Nigerian homes and institutions by 2020.

The Alliance works with public, private, and non-profit partners to scale up access to clean cookstoves in Nigeria by developing innovative financing mechanisms so that Nigerians can afford to buy a clean cookstove and support quality assurance and standards by working with research centres, stove companies and the Standard Organisation of Nigeria to ensure that only high quality clean stoves are certified for the Nigerian market.

The Alliance also works with the Federal Government of Nigeria to develop policies to support the clean cookstove market, communicate the value of clean cooking at the grass-root and complete successful demonstration projects that provide tangible benefits to Nigeria’s poor and share lessons learned.

Alliance partners: Alliance membership is open to organisations with at least one of the following resources: a) influence on policy, b) financing capacity and c) knowledge resources.

These organisations have joined the Alliance: Federal Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Shell Petroleum Development Company, Oando Plc, USAID, GTZ-Nigeria, First City Monument Bank and International Centre for Energy, Environment & Development.
