The Centre will take actions to implement action line 2 of the ECOWAS/UEMOA which called for the establishment of an innovation fund for rural and peri-urban areas to raise funding for at least 200 small- and medium sized RE&EE demonstration projects and support for local manufacturing and service companies. The Centre will facilitate the development and implementation of innovative commercial and non-commercial RE demonstration projects with good potential for up-scaling. For such projects ECREEE will try to mobilize additional carbon funds (e.g. CDM) and co-funding (grants and loans) from bilateral and multilateral donors.
