InfraCo Africa is a donor-funded infrastructure development company. It acts as an ‘honest broker’ seeking to create viable infrastructure investment opportunities that balance the interests of host governments, the national and international private sector and providers of finance.

InfraCo Africa acts as principal, shouldering much of the upfront costs and risks of early stage development, thereby reducing the entry costs of private sector infrastructure developers. InfraCo Africa:

secures in-principle commitments from providers of finance to support investments subject to entry by a competent private sector sponsor
offers structured investment opportunities to private sector consortia through a competitive tender process prior to financial close
is compensated for its time, efforts and costs by incoming private sector sponsors, often in the form of a minority ‘carried’ interest in the venture. Over time, it may sell its interest to national, institutional and public investors.
