The first project of GAMWIND Ltd. will be the installation of two secondhand fully retrofitted 450 kVA wind converters on Tanji high.
The project is solely private financed by the companies shareholders and a grant from GEF/UNIDO. The total investment is calculated with 650.000 € including a local part of around 3 million Dalasi.

The timetable looks for a commissioning of the plant in February 2012. The estimated energy production of the two wind converters will be around 800.000 kWh p.a. (0,8 MWh) and the next lifetime of the engines is calculated with minimum 15 years.

This electric energy goes totally in to the NAWEC 33kV grid at Brufut and will reduce the energy production of the Diesel-Power Stations in Kotu and Brikama by the same value. In addition the green energy of the wind converters will save a pollution of about 1.500 tons of carbon gas p.a. or 22.500 tons for the whole life time. The price per kWh GAMWIND Ltd. could offer to NAWEC is below NAWECS own temporary production costs.
The first project of GAMWIND Ltd. therefore will help to reduce the electric energy costs in the country. After one year of operation and experience GAMWIND will look after the next wind power project based on the meanwhile collected experiences.
