<p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Special Projects:</span></span></p><p><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><u>CFL Project </u></span></span></p><p><u><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Refrigerator Energy Efficiency: </span></span></u><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">UNDP-GEF is providing assistance to the Government of Ghana to implement a project titled “Promoting of Appliance of Energy Efficiency and Transformation of the Refrigerating Appliances Market in Ghana”. The primary objective of the project is to improve the energy efficiency of appliances marketed and used in Ghana through the introduction of a combination of regulatory tools such Minimum Energy Performance Standards and Information Labels (S&L) and innovative economic tools.</span></span></p><p><u><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">NEDPIC (Database)</span></span></u><span style="font-size:12px;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"> Among the specific mandates of the Energy Commission under the Energy Commission Act, 1997, (Act 541), is a requirement to secure a comprehensive national energy database for informed decision making and to facilitate the formulation of sound energy policies with regard to the development and utilization of energy resources in Ghana. This charge requires a reliable energy information management system at the Commission to facilitate the monitoring of energy sector developments and support the sector with good data analysis and energy needs forecasting.</span></span></p><p><u style="font-size: 12px;">Certification of Electricians</u><span style="font-size: 12px;">: The Ghana Electrical Wiring Regulations 2012, (L.I. 2008) were passed into law by Parliament on Friday 24th February, 2012 as one of the responses to the spate of electrical fires that had occurred in the country. The key objectives of the Regulations are to ensure that only properly qualified and certified professionals engage in electrical wiring and installation works, to well defined standards that would promote the safety of persons, property and livestock. Under these regulations, only Certified Electrical Wiring Professionals (CEWPs), qualified under the regulations, will be legally entitled to undertake indoor electrical wiring projects.</span></p>
